CBF Disaster Response Leadership

Attends Hurricane Preparedness Training,

With Department of Homeland Security

Charles Ray, CBF National Disaster Response Coordinator, and Reid Doster, CBF Louisiana Disaster Response Coordinator, have recently participated in a week of intensive training at The National Emergency Training Center, Emmittsburg, Maryland.

This Department of Homeland Security training involved a mock exercise in hurricane response, including policy making, the practical functions of an Emergency Operations Center and first-hand experience with general operations.

Of great value was the opportunity to network with other providers from around the country, representing both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Also, attending this training was Marvin Jackson, Director of American Baptist Association Disaster Relief Ministry,
one of CBF’s proven partners.

Charles also recently attended the first meeting of several Baptist groups who share similar goals in disaster response. With a spirit of cooperation, they discussed ways to compliment one another’s strengths to do the most good for the most people.
